In the game there are Hand Wreckers, Deck Wreckers and Damage Adjusters. Do these weapons cause a damage point when fired?

Nope. Hand wreckers make your opponent discard cards from their hand.
Deck wreckers make your opponent discard a card from the top of their
draw stack. Damage adjusters allow you to pick up a damage die counter on
your opponents card stack and adjust any way you like. (turn a 1 into a 6)

We have been using the Damage Adjuster as a roll of the targeted die. Are you saying that it is not a re-roll of the die but changing the die to whatever is wanted?

Sorry....my bad....you get to pick up ONE die (that is....an already applied
damage die counter) and re-roll it. One die can be picked up for each
successful hit by a damage adjuster heavy weapon. You could accidentally
HEAL damage depending on what the die roll is and where the die started!!
lol So don't hit a target that is sitting with 5s and 6s on the damage die!!!
