please list the power cards.

The ones that should go into every deck that you build.

-I made the mistake of putting Miscommunications back in my deck this last week, and i contradicted my argument from before. To avoid that, i'm answering this question in the negative first, and never stocking them again. So, 4 R/L4 Miscommunications available for trade if anyone has a 4-pack of Guiness lying around.

Poorly-worded cards (about 10% that do not indicate their intended purpose made it through QA it seems by my own collection count) no longer have a place in my deck.

By contrast, clear, concise, to-the-point cards will always have a place. Those that i include in all of my decks are T4 Reactionary World (just 1 in reserve because i know it annoys Galaktische), R/O1 Time Skip, C3 Cryo Convict (Early game especially useful to not only prevent engagement but repair), M3 Shield Fiend (one of the few decent cards i have had multiples of since i started playing), and R/C1 Science Officer (now that i own one).

These aren't ones that i set out especially for every deck intentionally (well, except for the T4...) but end up in every deck because i prefer them to the alternatives i have in my collection.

Talk later, have a good one.....Lobo

Anybody else have any input?

Or is this all the cards that everybody thinks are must haves?

I agree with pretty much everything on Rob's list except maybe the Helix
Crystal.

I would add;

H1 Divergent Anomaly
L9 Accelerated Timeline (to go with the Discard EQ)
R/L3 Unlucky Targeting
R/L8 Targeting Error

That's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

I've also seen one of our players use an R/O3 Instant Reaction and an
R/O3 Defensive Electronic Warfare together to great effect...

Is there a better T1? If so, please list it.

I'd say a card that is guaranteed to destroy an enemy terrain (eventually) that can only be disrupted by abilities on a card (as it can't be in a stack) is a better T1 than the Expanding Universe.

Whenever I ran that card, I found people would go out of their way to blow it up before it hit strength 3, but most didn't have answers for the Helix Crystal.

Then you're not using it right.

You have to protect it, which is quite easy to do.

I've had great success with it and a B3 Growing Civilization.

I put both in my reserve, pull the T1 out on turn 1 and play it. On turn
2, pull the B3 out and play it on the T1. This works particularly well if
you go first. I'm also fond of using H7 Stellar Gas Clouds on it, and an
R/H7 Interstellar Plasma is also quite useful with it.

Which reminds me, I'd add the R/H7 as one of the most useful cards in
the game, I try to find a way to put them into any deck if I can.

Last time I played with my group I did just that and got the combination
up to +8 before anyone even considered doing anything to it and by
then it was too late.

Even if go out of their way to try and kill it, you can still defend it with
reaction cards, and it's that much less fire your other units and terrain
are taking.

I'd say that at least 4 of the 5 times I've used that combination it's
worked out well for me either because I was able to get it strong enough
it was extremely difficult to kill, or it drew enough enemy weapons fire I
was able to build the rest of my fleet more effectively.

Ah, a lot of cards can be useful if you're going to build your strategy around them. I'd rather throw T7 Phillipovis and a T4 White Dwarf in my reserve than invest that much time into the T1, but if it's working for you then that's not too shabby.

T1 Helix Crystal
Played to or against a terrain
-Doubles the non-economic output of the terrain.
-Does its strength in damage to the structure of the terrain each turn. The helix crystal gains one point of strength when this is done.
-Only destroyed by the destruction of its location.

I personally despise the Phillipovis set... We have a player in our group
that has two of the full set in every deck he has, and keeps one more full
set in his reserve.

Frankly, while it is a damn useful card, I'd rather have to get a 1 and a 3
out of my reserve, than a 7, 6, and a 4, but that's just me.

Honestly though, I haven't been here in a while because I've been busy
with my life, and have been getting bored with GE. Unfortunately, I've
come to find the game rather one dimensional anymore, and it doesn't
have the same fun for me as it used to. That's a different issue though;
just came to mind because of your mention of the Phillipovis thing.

Thanks for the card info. I did find a couple herebout after ritein. I personaly think that the ability would bring on attack early in the game. As I see it the game has a few flaws that make it mortal. Just based on early draw it appears that the first players have a major advantage. None of these cards are major by themselfs ,Its the combination they could make that seem to decide how they can be used. There is a large part memory in this game when building a deck but the real thing seems to me to be the luck of the draw once it starts.Being that in my youth I was a hemp head I find exersise in memory very helpful in reconstructing my local ( ah where was I)

You don't need all three... combining it with the white dwarf is enough to get the extra cardplay and phat lewt. The Helix Crystal is one of the best ways to kill opponent terrains that you might normally not have a chance to take on.

And of course, the real thing is luck of the draw. Nobody would bother playing the game if it didn't matter after both players said what empire they were playing. The trick is to make your deck as consistent as possible to reduce the "crap-out" factor, and to keep steam flowing while you're in the game.

Helix Crystal will be coming shortly. I'm trying to have it available with Tony's promos as well in one big package including T/B10.

But, Tony is busy and it takes time. More details as they become available.
