The line for discussion on the card reads:

-Does not add its strength to the terrain's

The question is, if a Time Spindle is played to a terrain stack with this comet in it, does the comet count when totaling the stack strenght in order to Spindle it?

This came up in our game yesterday and we voted that it does but what do you guys think. We always turn to the forum to clarify these things so please help out.

Have a good day.....Dan

-The wording on the Spindle is key here:

-Played against a stack totaling more than 20 strength points

-Causes that stack to be discarded

-Placed at the bottom of the Discard Pile after use

It does not stated that it is played to a combined stack, or a stack with a single strength, or that the cards in the stack need to have one strength total. I would rule that it plays to any stack of cards that has 21+ result when the separate strengths are added. That includes crew, bases, equipment, etc.

Yep, i'd include it for Spindle purposes. Dunno if it was designed that way but the wording seems to indicate your interpretation is a reasonable one.

I agree with Lobo... it measures the strengths in the
stack.

Yes, but . . .

rules on the cards supercede in general rules, and the comet states on the card:  "adds NO STRENGTH" points to the terrain it is played to.  The Time Spindle says it's "STRENGTH points" that are used.  So why does the spindle work?

well if ya have a terrain that is a level 7....and you put a comet of lore on it, its still a level 7, BUT as for spindle purposes,  you still get a strength of 14 when you add them together for the stack.  it dont matter what number is where, they will add the same no matter how ya look at it.

Time Spindle says stack strength, which means to add up the strength of all the cards in the stack. So a S7 ship with a E7 Fighter and a C7 crew on it is strength 21 for purposes of the the spindle, even though neither the equipment nor crew add strength points to the ship. Same goes for the Scropead Comet - T7 terrain plus T7 Comet plus any other cards totaling 7 strength or more can be targeted by the spindle.
