At our last game a topic came up again that has been a topic of rules discussion in the past as well.  Some reaction cards say they may react once per turn; many do not.  We have agreed to play that they may only go off once per turn as it says in the general rules booklet.  But the point came up, why do some cards say once per turn and some do not?

I hope that makes sense to everyone.

i believe its stated somewhere that a turn, is just a player turn, and a complete turn is around the table.  so meaning, if you played that kind of reaction on somebody, then some else tries a card against you, you cant use that card again cuz you already used it that turn.  i think, lol, rereading this kinda confuses me now, i havent played in over a year.

All abilities that are not static abilities (i.e. double economic output, draw an extra card at the end of the turn, etc) are once per complete turn unless they say player turn.

All reacts are once per complete turn unless they specify otherwise. It would be impossible to resolve any cards if every react could be used every player turn. Imagine somebody Cloning a C10 Time Knight. Nobody would ever play another card for the rest of the game if it was every player turn.

Blacklassie's entry on the forum regarding the S10 Indirigan vessel that has reactionary phasers.  He described it and some players have responded.  You might want to check it out.

see my response to that post.

This is why I am reluctant to give a blanket statement.
And wanted to get specific.

Reactionary abilities are not reaction cards. Reaction cards may BE PLAYED in
reaction to an action. An ability with the phrase "as a reaction may" is simply
an ability that can happen in reaction to an action. The ability is limited to
use as once a complete turn per the rule book. If you could get the reaction
card back into your hand, it could be played any number of time during a
complete turn. (Though not more than your number of card plays if it is your
turn.)
