If a monster is played to a planet of an opponent, and the oppenent reacts with something like a H/R 7 Sellar Gas Cloud which states monsaters do not affect terrain the cloud is played to.  If the monster is discarded after use, is it discared even though its use ( to damage terrain) was not enacted?

Can you give us specifics?

You play Planet Gouge played against your opponent's terrain.
Opponent reacts with Stellar gas Cloud.

Planet Gouge is discarded.
