There are a number of cards which say that they can capture a crew card. What happens here? Please, comment on the specific questions below.

R/C1 Boarding Party says:

  • Do one of the following each turn at its location.
  • Cause 1 point of structural damage to a ship or base
  • Capture a crew card or destroy an equipment card of equal or lesser strength

My questions are:

  • What does it mean to 'capture a crew'?
    • Can the owner of the captured crew use it while it is captured?
    • Can the capturing player use the captured crew while it is captured?
    • Is the captured crew discarded when it is captured?
    • If it is not discarded then does the captured crew move to the Boarding Party's location at the end of the 'there and back' mission?
    • Is there some way the player who owns the captured crew can get the captured crew back?
  • Can I play the Boarding party (as a reaction) directly to an opponent's ship without the aid of a shuttle or transporter in response to him playing a crew there?

Thanks for your input.

J--

By definition:

Captured - 1) Captured crew is discarded. 2) Captured ships or bases: see control.

There is a card that allows Leopans to control captured crew (and equipment?), and future sets would have expanded on this theme.

I believe there was an argument of this when wolfie was on the forum.  The general concensus seemed to be NO.  And my thoughts with the boarding party would be yes, but they would be stuck there with no way off.

I assume this is what EP was replying to, and, yes, the answer is no.
