Got to play some GE this weekend, and had a few questions:

1. If a Psy card (P) is on a base (B), does destroying the base kill the psy card? Certainly it kills crew cards, but then crew can't fire on ships. This wouldn't be in question, except that the text of the Visonic and Psycanti Commandant cards says:

The base must be destroyed before the commandant can be affected with weapons damage.

This implies that the commandant isn't killed by base destruction.

2. If weapons fire is targetted at a P, does transporting the P as a reaction save it?

3. It seems to me that D1 Scintillating Dragoness is excessively powerful; if your opponent doesn't have pure card damage cards (something that is rather difficult to include in a streamlined Visonic deck, it seems to me) or simply doesn't draw them in time, the owner of the dragon is completely protected from sector HQ damage, possibly for the whole game. Am I missing something?

I don't see why that would save it, but you could move the Psy to a location where it would be better protected.

Most people include Hazards to deal with these situations (H1 Divergent Anomaly, H1 Time Warp, etc). Are there any Psy fields that let you do damage to ships? Those wouldn't count as weapons fire, so they could hit a D1.

Well, because if you're firing at planet X, and suddenly the target is at planet Y, it seems odd that your shot would still hit.  :)

Doesn't matter, Psy are still crew, and destruction of the location they're played to discards them. In a Psy deck reaction cards to move them are essential (especially Empire Fighters, since you can "discard" them back to your hand at the end of your turn - every Psy deck should have one in the Reserve Fleet).

Which basically means the commandant cannot be fired at directly if he's on a base.

No, not unless you're moving the Psy to a location with better shielding (Psy are protected by the shields of the location they're on, so if you can move a targeted Psy to a location with more shields then more of the damage will be blocked, possibly saving the Psy).

An H1 Dust Cloud? An H2 Gravity Wave can kill all D1's in a fleet. A H4 Nova can kill 4 of them at once, from multiple opponents no less.

Seriously, make sure some of your cards which do card damage, and if your opponent is relying on the D1's then save them for the D1's. Many Equipment, Monster, and Hazard cards can easily take out a Scintillating Dragoness. If you can't target the D1 then target everything else in his fleet. If your opponent has no other Dragons/Ships and no terrain it's only a matter of time before you draw one of the few cards which you can use to take out the D1, then you can plow right through him.

Thanks.  I don't have any of those, unfortunately, but that's OK; I make all the decks around here from my own stash.  :)

Oh *NEAT*.

Eric: I was thinking of making a decent reformatted HTML version of the rules with all the various errata and such added in; I'm really happy to see that you've already done so.  Thanks!

One question, though:  Does a version appropriate for printout exist?  i.e. one with page number references?  If not, would you be bothered if I made a version in something that can easily generate HTML or printable docs (i.e. TexInfo or stx or something)?

All of the rules questions aside...

Welcome to the forum - it seems like you might be a new(ish) player and those are always very welcome!

Thanks!  I've actually been playing for years, just very rarely.  :)
