Take a look at pg. 4 of GF#3.

The bottom right corner of the page has a box: Popular Misconceptions.

Misconception: Time Skipping a location where a crew is being played will cause the crew to "suck vacuum" and die in space.

Fact: Even when played in reaction, a card such as a time skip, when taking a card out of play, will take any card in play on the card as well. When a card goes out of play, the stack goes. Once a card has been played, it is in play. A card is considered in play even if it has not yet resolved its action.

This rule can be applied to Vacuum Effect as well.

yAy, we don't have to go back and forth forever about this anymore! :)

my post is in direct reponse to the discussion about being able to Vacuum Effect a ship out from under a crew being played in the "Why your mom hates me" thread.

I pointed that out 30 threads ago when I first disscovered it, Wolf continues to twist words to end up saying the same thing. I don't think he realizes it. Several people have mentioned it at different times. Do you think it could be a Pyc to get everyones attention on it? I don't know. As far as I can see we are all in agreement with you Geko. Even Wolf in a round about way. Least wize when he is done writing it appears that way. It's just the south jersy boys want to play it like magic. SO BE IT We all know when the game comes back they will be having to come around or lose alot in turnies. We just make them cards lost go to the other players Tornies and they will have to buy more. We will be RICH I tell you Rich beyond belief. They will have to put their Thumbs out to get to tornies.(No gas money as they will have to buy more cards)

Well, while I appreciate everybody's "support".

This has at least brought it to everybody's attention, that the rule book does need clarification.

While everybody might be playing it this way, it would be good if the rulebook actually was worded such that it read this way.

I actually have GF#2, 3 and a few GI's.

I saw the rule.

If that is the way it is played, and the way the company intended for it to be played, I hate to say it but, the few people here really need to take a trip in Mr Peabody's Way Back Machine because I was at a couple of different conventions where GE was played, and NO ONE played it the way it's described in GF.

Not Vince, not at the Tactical Retreats, No where. Everyone played the Reaction Cards like it was Magic.

Now, I'm not saying that that is the correct way, I'm just saying that is how it was played.

And for the Elitists here who think any revival of GE must have their stamp of approval to move forward, know this: If it does come back as a result of efforts put forth by the so called 'South Jersey Crowd', that is one rule that will be done away with immediately.

Too complex an issue for one. Eliminating anything that brings a timing argument to the table is a good thing.

You announce you are making a play, you check with your opponents to see if they have any objections, and then if not, play your card.
THAT is how it would play.

None of this BS of "Oh, I played it, it's too late, you can't do anything!"

Besides, what's the point of a reaction card, which has to react to a situation, if you take away the very thing that caused the Reaction in the first place?

Oh, and in a final push to make the reaction issue more like Magic, in the example posted previously, The Admiral to the BC, The admiral would be discarded if the location she was being played to left play.
It's the logical solution.

In a side note: Lobo, you sick, twisted bastard, and yes I say that with respect and love, here's another of my famous "Piss off everyone" posts, just for you bud.

Enjoy. :)

Let me post this a different way. A FLIGHT OBSERVATION Say you have a piolet that has flown an areoplane for 10 years and is very good at it. He sees a helocopter and wants become a copter piolet. This is a very hard change for him as the controls do not respond anything like a plane. His learned reflexs will work aginst him and he will have alot of difficulty adjusting to the controls. We at mission center have to weed out those who can't master the change and 4F them. It is not a matter of them not being able to fly a areoplane and they can go back to crop dusting on the farm. We want soldiers in the squad that can follow rules and adjust to a new and most different senaro. In the squad we call them men (Even the aliens) among us. The chaff as we call it ends up back in the soil fertilizing the next crop. Any Questions. Fall out

Well, it is not overly complex, just because it is different than Magic.

How complex is it to say the card is in play, NOW you can react to it.

We are not taking it away, we are just saying that you can't react to it before it actually happens.
