Hi folks,

I recently played a short game where my opponent had an S8 Bolaar
Battleship in play with an E8 Bolaar Phaser Capacitors on it.

I played an R/L2 Phaser Malfunction against it when he fired at me. I argued
that the Phaser Malfunction stops both volleys, because it the card text say
that all the phasers on the ship don't function, rather than it just negating
the volley. He was of the opinion that it only applies to one volley from the
phasers.

Any thoughts on this?

Note that it is perfectly possible for a ship with +++ to fire one phaser in each of three different volley's; the Capacitors merely allow the ship to fire multiple volley's with the same Phaser. The Phaser Malfunction does not affect a specific volley, it affects the Phasers on the ship it targets.

So, I agree with you; all phasers means all phasers, from the current and future volleys, on the turn it's played (though it would not be retroactive to previous volleys from that unit).

Thanks Eric,

I agree with you on the retroactive thing. I figured since the card says it
affects the phasers, and not the volley, that's how it should work.

So this means a Phaser Malfunction could be played in response to an R/E4
Multipurpose Phasers as well then... nice. :-)

yep. Consumes a card play though if you play it on your turn.
