How does your group handle proxies,In my group only one guy<Drakmore here>uses them for only a few cards and no one cares

whats going on in the rest of GE-dom?

My old grop used them all the time. As long as a copy or facsimile of the cards was available we allowed it. We did this to allow the rare and promo sets into our games. The only restriction was no more than 10% of the deck could be proxies. Of course the deck building rules were a max deck of 150 so only 15 cards max proxies.

We don't limit them, but I really only use them for cards I couldn't get through Piracy, Primary, Universe, Powers of the Mind, Time Gates, or New Empires, since those sets are fairly accessible.
