To start, I'm not asking to compile a list of card.

However, if we were to make a restricted list, what guidelines should we use for adding cards to it? Would errating certain cards to prevent ridiculous combos be better?

Discuss!

As I said in my recent post, as a comment to Aramax, I would restrict ALL luck and Occurrence cards, along with all the other cards we restricted before (Reactionary World, Cyber Anything, Holographic Simulator).
I believe that one change will do a world of good for the game.

That's one way to look at it, but not all Luck or Occurence cards are problematic. How should you evaluate a card to see if it deserves to be restricted?

For example, I think the C5/5 Time Knight is retardedly powerful because it's ability can end the game after a handful uses, but that doesn't necessarily mean he should be banned or restricted.

Ok. Well, I gotta love Skype. Saves me a ton on long distance phone calls.

This is what Geo and I came up with. Since the game is broken already, the only cure is a complete redesign of the game mechanics. Which would wreck the whole thing anyway.

So... What we are gonna try is, leaving the React World on the restricted list, and keeping the deck limit at 150 cards, but going back to standard stocking limits (4) Str-5, (3)Str-6 & 7, etc.
We are also gonna go to a max of 6 categories, instead of 8, to eliminate the useless fluff that finds it way into most decks.

Addendum: We will be keeping the original Power Nine restricted list, just so no one formulates the Mega Draw Madness decks. Hopefully, variety will rear its head, and game play will resume...

Playtest this, and I'll let you all know how it went on sunday night.

Unfortunately, I only get to play about eight games a year... maybe we can play over AIM sometime.

That was why I never came back to that game Ara. That restriction of any three of these cards was too harsh.
You are welcome to run any game you choose, within the framework of the "House Rules" guidelines, but the way you all have it set up, not only is the mega draw destroyed, a few other fun combos die also.

But, I have my decks reset to Factory standard, with the power nine restricted, and set to 150. I need a few cards that will be arriving in a day or so, not to mention the massive quantity I hope to acquire from Vince.

Does it make sense to reclassify the power nine as prototype class cards?
(Just to employ an existing game mechanic)

BTW, restricting a card to one per deck prohibits it from ever being in the
reserve fleet.

Yep, as per standard rules. Prototype or restricted, it's all the same.

-Interesting choices, although i am quite unclear as to why only those. I'd think the universal applications of a time skip or game-stopping power of a Penal colony in the early game would be more dangerous as they can be stocked in multiples compared to your list of mostly 8's and 9's.

Then again, i am a newb and do not know much about such things. As always, if it works fro your group, that's what is important.....Lobo

I would restrict ALL luck and Occurrence cards,

That is WAY excessive. If you guys want a restricted list, I am willing to discuss it, but lets do it on a case by case basis.

the power nine ?

What the hell are they?
