I need to understand this deck a little better to build it. Can I use any genaric crew in this fleet? Are the Mechad Humanoid enough to have human crew or other aliens on their ships? Can they SAY! Use Marines? Richie

I think that mechad crew are considered to be mechanical versions of the depicted human crew.

In other words mech decks can use any crew cards which don't say that they cannot be used in a mechad deck or that they can only be used in deck XYZ - where XYZ isn't mechad.

CRew or any card for that matter are generic cards unless in the rules say they are exclusive. for mechads, the only specific crew is the C8 Mechad overlord.  Empire specific cards require  one or two things to be specific to the empire.  The first and most common is the exact name of the empire is found in one of the two titles on the card.  The titles are in bold print and found directly above or below the illustration.  The second thing may be  that in the rules it will state may only be used in a ......... deck.   Usually but not always the backgrounds are the empire in question as well.  The c2 and c6 mercenary are colored Vektrean but they are not vektrean.  WELL anyhow back to your exact question.  The marine can be used in any deck.  the illustration does say it is a human  but that was only because they would neeed a gazillion cards to put one of every race on each card.    Is this now clearer?

Mechads were known to enslave organic units for their use when necessary
(hence the A4 Mechanized card). So yes ....crew cards are ESSENTIAL for a
good Mechad deck. One of the most essential crew for a mechad deck is a
Weapons Officer!!!   Engineers are good too. A great crew combo for
mechads are the C4 Lieutenant and the C2 Radioactive Being!!!
