-Hmm. We don't play with either of those cards RobPro mentioned, they stay in my box and we rarely include power cards in earnest, so my response will seem a bit weak.
In general, i have the toughest time dealing with Galaktische's Jxar deck and those tractor beams. Everything else he throws at me i can answer with the right draw, but that deck is tough tactically as my decks aren't necessarily built to specifically handle it.
He's been beating me up with Surprise Attack recently as well, though i can deal with that in my Tufor deck well enough.

Though he hasn't used it in a while there is a card... I think it is R/O3 Time Compression or some such... the one where you cancel a player's third card play. I hate it when he askes me if the card I just played was my third. Even the threat of it will cause me to play my cards a bit earlier than I want to... and that means he's getting mileage out of it beyond its power.
R/C5 Mutineer is high on the list as well. I usually include some crew in every deck but its hard to get to 5 strength of crew in a 'light crew' deck. Losing a command slot in a game where you only start out with 2 is tough...
I agree with Lobo's comment about the J'xar and the tractor beam. If I get the right combo in hand it is very difficult to damage my J'xar ships. If he designs to fight that combo then he going to weaker in general.
I think Lobo and I are very evenly matched in ability and it makes our duels a lot of fun.

My deck is heavy with economic bearing terrain.
The M6 Research Mandator and the O8 Galactic Depression shut me down.
We play this Monday so I am trying to exchange some of the economy terrain for some regular terrain as they must have figured out to play these cards by now against me.

-After thinking about it a bit, there is one other card that Galaktische used against me a few times that i still plan for in every volley against his ships: R/T2 Asteroid Shield. I include at least one heavy in every volley as a kneejerk reaction to the possibility it comes out. In my early decks that card gave me fits.....Lobo, now the proud owner of 20 or so Asteroid Shields

R/C9 Master Spy with an A6 Espionage Training.
Whoever designed those two cards should be taken out behind the barn
and shot. I constantly get screwed over by those two cards, everyone
else in my play-group runs them in ALL of their decks. (Yes, I'm talking
to YOU Galactus...) And then the spy gets promoted so I lose two cards
out of my hand every turn. Oh, and if someone manages to get the spy
on a Command Central, then I lose FOUR cards out of my hand every
turn.
But I've had my fill of getting bent over a log by that combo... I'm
rebuilding my Zedan deck this weekend and I'm going to load it up with
spies and things that let me be the bender and not the bendee. I'm
going to make it the ultimate FU deck... forget building a deck to try and
win... I'm going to build a deck to draw blood, and nothing more, that's
all it will do.

Basically, when you have a spy central in play (either the T6 or T9 or any
other card that allows you to use a spy function to view a card in another
players hand....this combo allows the spy to discard one card viewed up
to the strength of the spy. If the card discarded exceeds the strength of
the spy...then the spy is discarded also. Now here is where it gets ugly.
First...promote the spy...now the spy is 2pts stronger and he gets to
discard two cards instead of one...stick him on command central or use
one of those nifty equipment cards that doubles the function of one crew
card that generates a command point and now you get to throw away yet
another card!!! Get all of them in play and you basically get to empty
your opponents hand every turn!!! YEAH BABY YEAH!!! THATS WHAT I'M
TALKING ABOUT!!!

PS. It gets even worse....stack that spy with a spy ship and even if the spy
discards a card that exceeds his strength...instead of discarding the spy...he
goes to the spy ship instead!!! And you got it....he keeps doing what he was
doing before...which is...discarding lots of cards EVERY TURN!!!!
Muhahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!

I got another combo for all of you....Take the S7 Drone Heavy Bombadier,
play with an O7 surprise attack, stack that with a C5 Weapons officer and
a heavy weapon refit, now you are coming on the boad doing 7 pts of
heavy weapon damage to every terrain in one opponents fleet....Want to
make it one step worse? Throw in a space penguin and an E5 dual launch
tubes....play the surprise attack and the ship but don't fire the heavy
weapons....just shoot the phasers (preferably at terrain that have shields).
Then play the space penguin and take another turn...now the heavy
weapons are doubled from 5 to 10, multiply that by 1.5 for the weapons
officer....now you will do 15pts of heavy weapon damage to every terrain
in one opponents fleet. NOW THAT REALLY ROCKS ASS!!!!
Who needs the L10 Galactic Armageddon....this is even better!!!!

Ok, now you're just trying to scare us rookies! :)
That is some nasty stuff... but I'm guessing if you do that to player 2 then players 3-whatever are looking to put you out of the game asap.
Hmmm... off to find my own degenerate combos.

It get's worse really....How about this nasty combo....much easier to pull
off....S8 Ship of the ancients... E6 Heavy weapons refit, E3 Hyperspace
Detonator, C5 Alien Tech Officer (or equivalent)...48 pts of damage...slap
a C5 weapons officer on there and bump it up to 72 pts of damage. There
are ship combos that can result in hundreds of pts of damage...but the
card stack gets pretty hard to pull off.
Another fav is the promoted C9 Marauder with an A7 Personal
Transportation and an A5 Demolitions Expert...8pts of structural damage
per turn that bypasses shields...and you can change location every turn
without transportation!!!!
MUhahahahahahahahahahaha!
Enjoy!!!

Space Penguin does NOT let you take another turn, it merely reverses the
direction of play.

Space Penguin Card Reads:
The player with the highest strength penguin may reverse the direction of play during their discard phase.
The reversal occurs while it is still the players turn. After discard phase it moves the opposite direction IMHO.
Have a good night

Wrong... god, YOU are the one who can be so dense sometimes...
It "reverses the direction of play", that's all it says. Where does it say
you get to take another turn? IT DOESN'T.
As Blackie said, it occurs during the discard phase, which is still your
turn, so at the end of your turn, the next person to go is the person to
your left instead of your right, or vice versa. NOTHING MORE.

-We don't play with penguins. Not too hard to figure out why from the above dialog.
And if Galaktische can ever pump out 50+ points of damage from one ship, i'll politely say "i concede" and we'll start another game. It goes from 'fun' to 'what, you want a cookie?' in no time at all.

Well, instead of joining their ranks, just go totally insane, and start making all of their crew sick or insane. This will work against ANY deck with crew.

No, you do not get an extra turn from the penguins.
Instead of play passing to the left like normal, play now passes back to the right.

If Lobo dishes out 50+ damage I will hopefully react with a tractor beam onto my J'Xar Jumpship to pull the volley onto it and then politely gate that ship back into my hand thus voiding the damage.
Then I'll ask him if he is showing off for Mike, Beau, or Henry?

I think the most damage ever dealt out by one ship in our games was 144
something from one of my Bolar ships armed with a future ship, hyperspace
detonator, heavy weapon refit and a weapons officer...pretty nasty. Of
course if your group plays with catastrophic repetitions...then breaking a
100 pts of damage in one turn is easy...but we have banned that card as
being broken.
Regarding the earlier post...my mistake on the Penguin card...I forgot to
mention that you need to play the R/A4 card that allows you to play a
monster in reaction...thus playing the card at the end of someone else's
turn forcing the turn sequence back to you...

If you announce a volley of (insert ridiculous number) aren't you just asking for your opponent to take control of it and re-direct it somewhere painful?
Possibly, where the sun doesn't... :)
How many cards do you have in your hand to protect the 'ownership' of your volley before you launch something that might put you out of the game?

Well....at least once Luck Demon would be handy...or a temporal
correction...I try and have at least ONE T4 Reactionary world in play before I
start throwing that kind of damage around...but hey...you gotta take risks!!!
No risk, no reward...

Lobo went through a phase where he included a reactionary world in many of his decks. In a duel, that thing is hard to play around so I make a point of destroying it as soon as I possibly can.
The luck demon is harder to fight since reactionary research is hard to come by... but I'm guessing it doesn't last an entire turn.
I don't mind risks, and I'll often try to draw out Lobo's reaction cards by baiting him with a 'pretty good' card/action when I am holding back the thing I really want to clobber him with. It makes the game a bit more fun.
I have played a few of the cards that let me look at his hand but I don't do it on a regular basis. I don't think that what Lobo and I consider to be Tier 1 decks (locally) would survive in the environment you're playing in.

I'll let you in on a little secret... whenever the Supermodel is brought into
play, Galactus can't stop yammering about how much he wants to, well,
you know... her, in like... the biblical sense.
