Hi folks.

I'm wondering if crew that reduce damage to their location can have that
reduction increased by other cards that increase the points generated by
the crew they're played to.

Okay, that's not quite clear; here's an example.

A C9 Senior Admiral reduces damage to his location by four points. If
someone then plays one of those C1 council or committee or whatever it
is cards (I forget the name, but the card text says something stupid like
"ditto"), does that doubling also double the damage reduction?

I'm of a mind to say no, because damage reduction does not seem to be
point production; the damage reduction seems to me to be a card ability,
rather than points the card produces.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful as I play against Galactus semi-
regularly and he does this a lot, and absolutely insists that the damage
reduction is also doubled by the C1. I disagree with him, but he
absolutely insists the damage reduction is point production and not a cad
ability/action.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that qualifies as an ability. It's like saying a Time Knight produces damage points and having that card double those.

Well, a Time Knight does produce damage points, but I think something
on the C1 says it doesn't double damage points...

The thing I notice is that time damage from a Time Knight and the
damage reduction that an Admiral does aren't on the card in the upper
right corner, where produced points are always placed. This itself seems
to me to say that the damage reduction isn't a produced point.

They're not Generated Points; damage reduction points are Card Modifier Points as are any other point symbols located on the right middle, below the image (this includes terrain output modifiers, such as those of Freighters & Tugs).

What is unclear from the rules is whether Card Modifier Points are treated as "point output," since the rules don't really define "point output" (and the C1 Confidential Coordinating... multiplies point output). IMO "point output" is synonamous with Generated Points; so the damage reduction points cannot be multiplied by the C1.

C1 Confidential Coordinating first chief.......  does not double anything from the C9 Senior admiral. The card states

Ditto:

-May only be played on crew cards which generate points

-Doubles the point output of any one crew cards on which it played.

-Does not double command points.

Generated points are found in th e top right corner.  Point modifiers are found below the picture or in the rules section of the cards.  The C9 damage reduction are not generated points and the Command points is does generate cannot be doubled.

The C1 card is great for use on nobles and cards that generate reasearch and healing/repair point.  I am unsure if they double generated damage points like those from psy marines or C5 suicide squad.

Okay, it seems there is a consensus here... Point Modifiers aren't
generated points, so the C1 doesn't work. I can live with that. :-)

As for damage, I think it would depend on what kind of damage. In the
case of a Time Knight, time damage is a card action; the damage points
are not 'generated' as they are not listed in the upper right hand corner.
However, card damage, damage that is listed in the upper right hand
corner does seem to be generated points, so in this case I would think the
C1 would work. Any thoughts on that proposal?

The card modifier points are actually adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing the point generation of the card they are played to. They are not generating them themselves.
