Hi All

Can the Garshain react with fire when there are no Indigians firing at then in the volley they are reacting to and there are Indigians in other fleets that are not firing in the volley?

My understanding of reaction fire is that the unit that can fire in reaction can
fire on any unit firing at it. I don't think it specifically has to be another
Indirigan, unless of course the card text stipulates that.

But the Indirigan rules state that I must fire on Indirgians first, if they exist...Does the Garshain Tribe get to ignore the rules on firing on Indigians first in their reaction fire? Especially if there are no Indirgians in the ships that fired the volley

I would think if there are other Indirgans in play, and you have to target Indirgans first, then if there are no Indirgans in the Volley it would prevent you from firing in reaction.

Geko will probably clear this up...

"I would think if there are other Indirgans in play, and you have to target

I disagree. There's nothing in the rules on Indirigans that I can find, or
under playing reaction cards that states this is the case.

The Indirigan rule only applies if you are the one who is actively targeting
an enemy fleet, not firing phasers in reaction to being fired upon.

Also, in actual application of your interpretation, let's assume the
opponent who fires on you does have Indirigans in his fleet, but yet none
of them fire on the ship that can fire in reaction. Under your
interpretation, you wouldn't even be able to fire at those ships, because
all the ships that have defender capability, that is can fire their phasers in
reaction to being fired on, have card text that states they can only fire in
reaction on units that are firing on them.

It simply doesn't make sense for this to be the case. What would the
point of having the defender capability be in the first place then? Just so
in the rare case one Indirigan unit is firing on another that only then
could you fire in reaction? Doesn't seem at all logical to me.
