I'd like people to simply reply to this post with list questions or
rules that they think need to be clarified in 3.0beta and include
examples when appropriate.

What we'll do from there is take some of the topics and I'll start a monthly thread to discuss each of the topics.

Messages posted here discussing the submission will be deleted.

Again hoping to bring together the bulk of the IRC members and work on
releasing a beta 3.0 rules set after GenCon in Indy (so September...)

Some areas of play that I find particularly sketchy are those involving
the playing of reactionary cards, ship movement/location, "card
damage", and some other things along those lines that I can't quite
recall right now...

 | Maybe a maximum hand size that you have to discard down to during the discard phase?

A specific list from my perspective would be:

The exact nature of ability cards. Are they integral to the card they are
played to, becoming "one" with that card, or are they considered separate,
and able to be attacked and affected separately? There has been some
discussion about this in other threads, some of which I do not agree with.
However, I would be willing to accept the rule of the majority if this could
be treated in a logical and objective fashion.

The exact nature of equipment cards. Just as with ability cards, do they
"become one" with the card they are played to? Previous discussion here
seems to indicate they are, for example the point that they can only be
destroyed by crew actions or the destruction of the unit they are played
to. The way equipment cards are treated should be in accord with the
 way ability cards are treated.

The hierarchy of damage, base shields first vs. planet shields first, etc.
Part and parcel of this would be to systematically designate in an erratum
every single base card in the game and decide whether it is a planetary
 base or an orbital base.

I'm sure there are other issues that haven't been brought up yet. What is
needed is someone who can catalog all these issues, keep track of what
the rulings are, and then compile them for inclusion into a rules revision.

 | vs base shielding and the order of damade should be clarified...I also think
the ability card and equipment card issues should also be clarified (see
similar threads). Can we get this back on track? There are some
conventions coming up this year and it would be nice to have a Rev 3.0 to
play with. Maybe by GenCon? I would be willing to spend some time on
 this...

I think a whole new rule book should be devised. Just the whole combining terrain, and ability and equipment needs to resolved.  Something that always comes up in threads here timeskipping and warping etc of cards or stacks of cards.  But I think just as neccessary would be card erratta changes.  Oh and if you think it could be done by Gencon, I hope you mean 2008, else it would be as questioned as the current rulebook.

Yeah...you are right...2007 would be very, very ambitious at this point.

How about a whole new version of the game while you are at it?

I will be at GenCon again this year. Each and every year in the Game Trade Magazine booth. Let me know if i should bring a deck to whoop any of you.

Hey for those going to GEN-Con, remember to specify which one.  I am thinking ( and groveling with my wife) of going to Gen con INDY, after all, I only live 2 hours from there.

If I looked at all the blonde(most bleached) bimbos, my wife would give me enough black eyes I could'nt find Gen con.
