On this coming Saturday, I will be hosting an Entity Challenge here in South Jersey.
Bring your starting hand of 9 cards.
A 500 card deck will be in the center, containing everything from crappy coaster cards to promos to Indirigans and Entities!
Standard
EC rules apply.(No Duplicates and No Reactionary Worlds.)
This is the only change to normal GE rules: At the end of your turn,
during the Draw Cards step, you will draw cards to bring your hand back
to a total of 9 Cards. If you already have 9 or more cards, you DO NOT
draw (Unless you have a Cyber Mage etc).
All cards in
your discard pile at the end of the game, are yours to keep!
Prizes: 1st Place: 1) Sealed Booster Box of Time Gates AND 9) Random Entities!!
2nd through last place: 2 Entities!
You
can contact me for Directions to the challenge via a PM, and I need to
know who will be coming so we know how many chairs to have ready.

The entity challenge has been postponed until 6pm on the date previously listed. Time constraints on some of the participants forced this delay. The event will be held at the Travel Centers of America in Paulsboro, NJ, which is exit 18 off of I-295.
Those of you planning to attend, kindly let me know by Friday 5pm.

Would love to have Rob and Geko make an appearance too, since this particular TA has a Motel attached... And if a room is needed, I can use my CDL, and get you the "Trucker Discount", which I believe is $35 a night.

yeah, not going to happen this time.
Too close to Halloween, and I have other plans, like remodeling my bathroom. You know... grown up things. ;)
Let me know how it turns out.

Uh huh.. Let me see here..
I am in mid restore of my 1988 Lincoln LSC/Bill Blass, turning it into a street/strip sleeper,
I drive 18-wheelers for a living along with turning the occasional wrench for $$,
I write Sci Fi novels when the mood strikes (And have been published twice),
I compete in Amateur woodsball games and scenarios,
AND I play GE, a game where the average age of new players is in their late 20's/ early 30's.
Please, don't say stuff like "Remodeling the Bathroom is Grown up stuff". Getting married and popping out two kids hardly qualifies a person as being grown up.
Let me know when you start caring for an elderly/sick parent, like I and Harry D both do.
Then I'll equate the grown up status to you also.
I should have listened to Geo and Harry when they warned me about you Andrew. I read your reply to the writer in the back of GF#3 (What were they thinking?) and you were extremely short with that person, and presented a face to the gamer public the company so needed that would hardly be considered considerate and helpful.
Just my 2 cents. Spend it anyway you like.

I wish I could make it... but 312 miles is a bit much for me to go on my lonesome. I'd have to drive and additional 5 hours just picking up the other three people who'd want to make the trip. :(

I understand. It is a long ride on short notice.
But, cheer up, as I plan to host one of these get togethers every month.

Relax. I was kidding with the "grown up" comment. Notice the little wink?
As far as the article goes, I stand by the article. Everybody complained about the cost of getting the promo cards, which is vastly different than the availability issue that they complain about now. And now thanks to you, that shouldn't be a problem either.
The cost involved in getting the promo cards I didn't see as a factor. The prices at the time were fair.

And, besides I would much rather be playing GE than remodeling my bathroom, believe me, it is not going to be fun.

Compared to what? The prices Vince was charging was a little steeper then most, but he was the only source I was aware of.
Yes, I saw the wink, but didn't factor that in. Sorry for that.
No, bathroom remodeling is best left to the Pros, like Bathroom Refitters. They did a friends house and it looks great.
And as for my sales of promos, if more people would get in touch with wish lists etc, I'd be more then happy to accommodate all of them. Need to free up space in my living room.

compared to the cost of buying a new release, which they were not complaining about buying.
Most of the people that had promo cards had their contact info right on the card. So, getting in touch with the individual (at the time), was not a problem.

Most of the numbers/emails are long since dead. Gosselin was still at his phone number, but Medici and Vince had business numbers, which have long since been disco'ed.

right, but the article was written when the numbers were valid. And, like I said, the "bitching" was because of the expense, not the availability.

Rather than the $ or availability, I heard complaints about the company going with a new game direction/philosophy through the promos and not acknowledging or supporting that same direction in the core game. This was mostly from the players, not collectors, due to the overpowered indestructible terrain.

that is not true. The terrain in Cyberspace would have been beefed up, so as to compete with the promos. But, they would have been more balanced, and only have had one immunity, not two.

Can't be helped. Even if we printed the next set of cards (Cyberspace) at the same time we printed the promo cards, the promo cards would have had a month's jump on the competition.
Besides, how would you feel if you just spent a lot of money buying this new promo card, and the company makes it fairly obsolete almost immediately with the release of its next set.

And I missed the promos by about 4.5 yrs.
By 2001, I was flush enough with cash to have had the Marrokians made, a distant cousin of the Leopan who were actively hunting the Garshain.
I'll list some of the Persona crew and a few of the ships later. They were pretty nasty...
Considering the Marrokians are a Psionic Race... :)

Hmmm... I doubt I would have allowed them to be related to the Leopans.
The Leopans were my creation, completely. I was very protective of them.
It still bothers me a lot that their artwork was subpar.

Well, distant in the sense that the Marrokians were a race of Psionic Felines from a small cluster of stars 150 Pcs from Terra.
They are the main race (other then humans and a genetic Anthro race called Gideons) that I write Sci Fi novels about.
The males resemble humanoid saber-tooth tigers, and females more closely resemble humanoid mountain lions (re: Puma) of the American West. One of the main persona characters was effectively a level ten all by herself. Right Geo? :)
Slave-girl or no, she was a very formidable Psi, with a specialization in Teleportation...

If it was an exact duplicate, perhaps I would be upset, but something
equally powerful, nah - especially if the artwork were unique and
respectable. I would certainly not expect the company to allow me to
own an overpowered card unequaled in any future release. Although I
suspect some buyers may have whined (incessantly) about their lost
'investment'.
G7 Stop yer Whinin'
Players vote on whether the designated player (chosen by the player of
this card) is whining. If guilty...
Hidden: Opponent must remain silent for one complete turn or play with
an exposed hand for a number of turns equal to the number of players
who had to listen.
Exposed: Opponent must remain silent for one complete turn or
immediately take 3 points of HQ damage for every player who had to
listen.

Restricted list aside, would you guys be willing to allow proxies at the January event? 2 out of the 3 people likely to go can't play competitively without proxies, and don't have much to trade for decent cards.
