Here's a question...is there enough stuff for the Tranoans that they could be used as a deck's major empire, or are they more suited for minor empire splash carding?

They're better as splash cards. There isn't a good enough variety of high-powered Tranoans - there's only one S7 and one of the two S6's is a promo, so it's hard to come by. The Tronoans also take a *LOT* of economy to engage, they lack heavy weapons (Time Damage Generators are *NOT* heavy weapons, they're standard non-heavy, just like regular phasers), and the Tranoan ships can become stuck in the Time Origin, eating up command slots, forcing you to use card plays just to discard them so you can play ships to the fleet. They just don't make a good main empire.
Tranoans do make good hitters with both Mechad (to capitalize on the fleet wide damage) or Scorpead (to capitalize on the Phaser Refits you're likely to have).

Funny, but Tony Medici WON a Masters event with his Tronoan deck... But, they have limits like anyother race. I like running them with Admirals and Commodores so I never have a command point issue. I also add in three Vek Battlecruisers as minor empire fodder.
Hmm, maybe I should do a Tronoan deck next....

The same "Anthony Medici" who had the S6/4 Command Cruiser made? I presume he had 3 of them in his deck.
At any rate, I never said it was impossible to make a Tronoan deck, just that it's a lot harder to make up for their shortcomings than with other empires. Of course, they have some advantages too (such as the Tronoan Terrain jumping to the Time Origin when destroyed, meaning standard Terrain Destruction techniques don't work particularly well against them).

Not only the Command Cruiser, but also the E-7 Extreme Phaser Refit. His deck was all about the Fleet-wide Cat Rep. A Tronoan DN with a EPR and a Cat Rep spelled doom to many opponents.

No doubt, but now you're talking even more Promo cards to pull it off. As I said in my original post, without getting the specific Promo's you'd need (which are *STILL* hard to come by) it's pretty much impossible to pull off a Tranoan deck.

True. I have a stack of those refits around here somewhere...
