I've been thinking about different main race choices for decks I use in duelling with Lobo. This may be obvious to some of you but it occured to me that some races are just not as likely to win as others.

When I thought about using some races I found my strategies warped around hiding their weaknesses rather than attacking the enemy deck. In my mind some of the races are just inferior to the others based on their special rules, card strength, and lack of support.

Here is my impression of which race belongs in which tier for DUELLING purposes. I almost never play multi-player so I'm sure your experiences may vary (no particular order).

  • Tier 1
    • Corporate
    • J'Xar
    • Scorpead
    • P.O.T.
    • Tufor
    • Indirigan
      • Council of Six
      • I'm sure there are others
    • Bolaar
  • Tier 2
    • Argonian
    • Gekonauk
    • Dragons
    • Mechad
  • Tier 3
    • Orgon
    • Aqaaran
    • Clydon
    • Leopan
    • Zedan
    • Corporate Pirates
    • Vektrean
  • Tier 4
    • Comedy Club
    • Filarian infesters
    • Krebiz
    • Psycanti
    • Visonic
    • Aesthetic
    • Collector
    • Noble
    • Time knights
    • Tranoan
    • Tregelean
    • Drone
    • Erodi
    • Pak'tadon
    • Paraloid
    • Shon'ti
    • Tarra'ki
    • Trochildae

POT? A Tier one deck?

Can you post your POT deck?

This I have to see!

I would swap the Mechad and POT myself (and put Geko into Tier 1 as well, but perhaps i am biased).

Orgon should probably move up a level (equivalent to their Space Dragon counterparts).

And, Comedy Club should move up two levels.

-Galaktische probably included POT because it was one of the first races that i played against himt hat i was able to win with. IT was a ship deck, plain and simple, lots of firepower and support cards for that purpose. Was one of my more focused decks in those terms, and he happened to be playing against me with a deck or two that was unable to overcome the focus. He has made decks since that would have handled it easily, but it was as much luck as anything else.

I agree with Comedy Club only because that necessitates using CC cards which are, by design, powerful enough to kick my butt several times over. I don't have anny CC myself, but from what limited amount i have seen Galaktische play against me, they have been strong every time those support cards hit the table.

I really have no feeling on any of the others except to say i am sure i can lose with all of them! Have a good one, talk later.....Lobo

Lobo is right about the P.O.T. I haven't ever played them but he did well with them for a while. I'll have to try and make a P.O.T. deck and see if they can be Tier 1. I'll downgrade them on Geko's advice until I see otehrwise.

I think I'll try to build a Geko deck - though I think I'm missing some of the larger cards. Does anyone have any spare higher end Geko ships?

I would put Vektreans and Dragons into Tier 1. Would you mind describing the qualifications for being in tier 2-4?

-Dragons are generally too slow in *duels* for me to give them Tier 1 cred. I LOVE dragons, i like playing them and enjoy using their decks but they are slow by comparison to other decks simply in  building strength. It takes two cards to have the defensive capability most empires get with a single ship. In multi-player i have no doubt Dragon is up there with the rest in Tier one, but in duels (with my collection and experience) they are slow compared to my other alternatives.

Then again, if you have some ways to speed them up by all means share with the class!

-Howdy. I had typed a long, hijack-esque response to this, but suffice it to say it hoguht better of it. What i did want to mention is that to pull off the D on the T there, it takes two turns, two card plays, and the D is now nowhere near able to protect my Sector HQ with it's new strength.

That is, unless, i missed a rule somewhere that the Terrain *permanently* adds the strength whether on the terrain or not. If not, it ain't worth it in a duel.....Lobo

Hiding behind a scintillating will not help you in a duel.
