Tales From the Galactic war.

My name is Hrenn Thominson. I was in the thick of things during the Galactic war. The Sector I was in was one of the most contested with a total of 16 Major races with sector Headquarters built. I was on the side of the Corporate Agressors. Though I wasn't in service at the start of the conflict, I was quickly drawn into it. This is my story; hopefully it gets out with no censored text, but that would be more a miracle than lasting peace.

It was the seventh month, Augontus of the year 3214 according to the Acatian calendar. On the 3rd day of then 8th month, Septiom, I would finally graduate from the Corporate Sensor Academy 2nd highest in my class. Only 16 days to go. My scores to this point were so high that I could fail final exams and still pass. There was no way I wanted that, because with my grades I was near guranteeed a spot on a newer class Dreadnought , and whoah distant dreams of even a Battleship.

As dreams bounced around my head of prestige and sensor pings, The entire barracks was rudely awakened, A quick glance at my chrono put us at three hours of rest. "Wake up you weak minded flagulets. The Corporation has called us into active duty. " My mind raced as it was being thrown about with graduation being cancelled and being called into service. The Drill Instructor told us we had two minutes to dress and had each assigned to additional instructors. As further instructions were given it was apparent that this was just another test. The DI continued," Follow your instructors to the appropriate sensor rooms." If we were being called into active service we wouild head for the Tarmac to ships or to the command centers. I guessed that we were just being given an exam on very little sleep. No problem for me, sensors were my highest score.

As Our group was escorted into our sensor quad, we were further broken down one on one with an instructor. My instructor was very unusual, While His demeanor was overbearing with an extreme muscular build, it was'nt quite military. His eyes took in everything and seemed to be assessing every move anyone made. It was eerie. His skin tone, tinted light blue, was'nt of a sensor tech stuck in a room or ship but looked weathered, more like a hunter. Perhaps he liked to hunt, afterall, it was one of my favorite pasttimes, before I joined. His clothes were crisp and clean, not worn but just newly purchased.

The Group Leader bellowed out more orders, the kind you don't ever want to forget. "This test will not be discussed with anyone. Anyone... Anyone!!!! who mentions this test ever...may have the strictest of corporation law imposed on him. If you fall asleep, get your ship killed or in any way fail you will immediately be removed from this schooling. Is that understood" My imagination was playing havoc on me, it seemed as though the group leaders eyes focused on me. My skills were certain to me instantly knowing that I would not fail. My response was the loudest, almost as if i would force away the doom. "UN...DER.. STOOD SIR", resounded from the entire group.

We each were escorted into seperate rooms. They were like every other sensor room I've been in. The thick doors and slightly padded walls were designed with special mesh which would prevent most noise and sensor emmissions from bleeding to other consoles. In the middle was the sensors system with a single chair. As I went for the seat I got a good look at the console. It was far more advanced than the standard training consoles. Rather than 4 standard screens this had 6 and those were embedded with antiparoxials. The dials allowed for more tuning and had a smaller one next to it. The sensor selection allowed for radar, organic, sound, raidiation, radio and 3 othere settings I knew not of.

"Here begins your career," my instructor began. His voice was soft and carried only far enough to reach my ears."This is the most advanced sensor system the corporation has available. You will identify each and every object on the screens. I want to know of any disturnbances up to an hour old. Begin."

I was thrilled at the start, but that quickly faded as the first 40 or so sensors began. It was all too simple. Corporate ship, Black Hole, leopan ship trail,Krebiz cruiser leaking immodia, planet, stars, asteroids. What a waste of a system. Once I even had a Occumbi blip. I was so bored I played with all sensor settings. Then it got interesting. Twin stars showed on my screen. I started to say "Twin st...." but something wasn't quite right. I was quickly intrigued at a new puzzle. My hands and fingers darted back and forth between the dials. I first seperated the stars onto differnt screens. I ran each through the standard radiation, light, radar and radio switches. Playing with the larger switches and then fine tuning with the smaller switches. The two stars were exactly identical. And that just doesn't happen. I reached over and played each star thru the organic filters. It was then that my instructor showed his first sign of life since we began the test. One star showed possible life readings. Not like those on the surface or in orbit but as if itself was alive. "Sir this is an impossible sensor reading. It looks like a twin star, but each star is identical. The star with the larger orbit shows intremintent life signs, not on or in but the whole thing"

"well what is your call then?" was his response." perhaps you are reading a monster behind it, or perhaps ...."

"No sir, The life signs are read as the same daimater of the star. If I were to hazard a guess, it looks like a giant cross between a Mimic and Astromorph." I said astonishingly. From somewhere in the room I heard a faint beep.

"Well cadet, continue the test." The rest of the test seemed to focus on monsters. Only two more sensor systems readings gave me interest. Why anyone would think to place 4astrmorphs in an asteroid field i didnt know. The other one was with Leopan ship surrounded by a life sign. I actually had to access the computer monster index to indentify what it was; a class 3 Invinco guardian.

"Welcome aboard."were his final words before he left the room. I was befuddled on what to do. I wasn't dismissed, I was'nt passed or faile, so what did that mean?
