Can you Twist of Fate your own cards during your opponents turn, and choose back to the hand?

Example: Opponent targets your Big Ship with lethal weapons fire. In response, can you Twist of Fate it back to your hand?

Nope, sorry; errata:

R/L8 Twist of Fate (TG/UE): May only be played against an opponent's card that is not the basis of a stack.

We figured there was errata, but we didn't have this site on hand during the game.

Twist of fate the ship which generated the lethal volley and you accomplish the same thing.

  1. Opponent announces your big ship as a target with weapons from his ship(s).
  2. You play twist of fate against his ship - assuming it resolves.
  3. He puts his ship either in hand, in discard, in reserve (???)
  4. There can be no weapons volley as there is no ship to generate it.

At least that's the way I think it works... am I wrong?

That would work, if his ship wasn't the basis of a stack or if he didn't have anything to counter it with. But it's neater on my ship, I could just keep reacting and returning stuff to my hand.

Example 2: My opponent is about to put lethal research into my Luck Demon and I Twist it into my hand. ;)

Too bad it was errata'd.
