Hi! Sort of new around here...started playing Galactic Empires when it first came out, even though my only opponent was a friend in highschool (Everyone else was too busy with MtG...). Enjoyed the game though, even though all i had was Universe edition Krebiz, Mechad, Tufor, Dragon, and Comedy club decks. Started getting back into it due to a local gaming shop having "Dead game days"...hope to get people playing it, though trying to aquire more cards to make decks for everyone is proving a problem. Hopefully Ebay will be my salvation. Expect to see more posts with rules questions and deckbuilding questions in the future.

Welcome to the Lobo show... err I mean the forums!
I look forward to hearing about your efforts to grow GE in your area. Lobo and I are doing much the same thing in Oklahoma.
:)

I probably mis-posted the ressurection of GE up here in Philly, but we needed to re-tool the game to make it accessible to new players.
The old Command/Draw decks which were made famous (or infamous) at the various Tactical Retreats and Origins visits by George Stewart and Harry Dangro, really showed the game's shortcomings. With the ability to draw their entire decks by turn three(!), really showed that the game had some underlying issues regarding balance.
And please, don't opine to me that your Monster deck, or your crew attack deck, or your whatever Insert-personal-favorite deck here deck would be a winner. Because it won't.
We (Geo and I) decided to impose a WoTC style Restricted list, Set a deck size limit of 150 cards (Which really makes them easier to shuffle, even using 100% Universe Edition cards), and changed out the deck stocking limits. All cards level 1 through 3 are still stocked at a max of 8, but cards from strength 4 through 9, you can now stock up to 4 each.
To play test this, we had a duel literally last over an hour. We also had a few games drop dead by turn two (Interstellar Void+Vektrean Dreadnought+Catastrophic Repetition). When your Opponent is still on Turn One restrictions with regards to what cards he/she can play, When you go to turn two, and drop those three...
But, we are still looking for more people up here who would like to play GE, and Geo himself is looking for people interested in purchasing some of the custom cards he had made. The Indirigan race Garshain is his, as is that base from hell, the B-9 Planetary Shield. That card is nuts!
Anyway, more on us later. Peace

Hopefully we can get Harry out of his recent downturn in his life, and get him back into the swing of things. A stroke does that to you.
I have a couple of people playing as true beginners, and we needed to revise the game to keep them from being slaughtered (and thus never wanting to play again) so we could build up a gamer base.
Geo is in Lansdowne, and I am in South Jersey. As an OTR Trucker however, long drives don't bother me (Though the current price of gas is VERY annoying, considering my personal vehicle is an 88 Lincoln LSC... 5.0 HO is a gas whore.)
Hmm, an hour away from Philly, heading west puts you around Lancaster...
