I can't help but notice that when recomending card buys, no one recomends Piracy. Is that because it is more complex and harder to incorperate for Newbees? What is everyones opinion on why it is or is not a Viable Set? I personaly like the set as There are many Rare Cards that are not easy to find elsewhere. The card art is a step up too.

Yes, I the strategies are a little harder for newbies.
But, i think it is mainly because the set is not empire specific. You need the ships so people recommend the core set(s).
They recommend Time Gates because it is just a god awful powerful set.

In spite of a few very good cards ,overall I was not a big fan of Piracy,it seemed to have to many useless cards in it.

Geko has it. :)
I do like Piracy, but overall the only cards I really liked from it were the O6 Tech Breakthrough, R/O5 Stolen Tech, and the B1 Pirate Outpost.

if you look at the list of useful cards that I created, you will notice Piracy is about average. Time Gates, however, is twice any other set.
Time Gates - 69 cards
Invaders - 26 cards
Allied Forces - 7 cards
Advanced Technology - 18 cards
Persona - 30 cards
Piracy - 24 cards
Comedy Club - 17 cards
Powers of the Mind - 7 cards

I can not understand your thinking Geko. As for Empires they are the greatest sorce of Leo. ,Bolar, Nag. and Corp. Pirates Not to forget the Vicious Six. I opened 3 boxes for an Adverage of 10% ships per box. 2 boxes adv. workable fleets for all of the fleets mentioned. I know alot of them are minor Empires. If you choose to use them you gain their Tec.

Don't get me wrong. I think it is a great set, hell, I was the lead designer on the set.

well if you look at the recomendations we are usually asked by newbees trying to get into the game or those getting back into the game from the start. Piracy has two basic races of which to build a deck from, the corp pirates and leopan. the terrain in it are best only for those two races and has few to benefit the other races in a grand scheme of it. The entities are about the same. There is one advantage of buying piracy over all others, 80 packs per box means 80 very rare cards vs universe of 36 packs and 36 VR cards. Also the recommendations I make are for only 2-4 boxes. If someone were to want 8-10 boxes my recommendation would be 5 universe, 2 TG and 1 piracy(plus 1 piracy and a power of mind for the 10). These recommendations are for those which Cav sells. New universe goes for 100+ and Advance tech for 200+, havent seen booster box for Galactic invaders and Allied Forces box went for 250. Comedy club are mostly useless and would'nt recommend them for anything but additional cards.
I think the list Geko created was generous to some of the cards on it. Some of the cards listed you won't even see listed on any of the numerous decks posted on this site, skeeves site or even in the decks from the magazines. Not saying the list is obsolete but with the competive decks listed promos dominate the terrain by far.

Well, to be fare, the list is a list of cards that I find useful.
These are not cards that I think should be put into a competitive deck, just alternatives if you are bored with the same cards.
And, I haven't made a list for the promo cards. Hmmm... maybe I should do that.
