Hi all...
In a feeble attempt to keep some life in this game, how about we all
list where in the country (world) we are, so that we can contact those
near us to see if we can maybe set up some meet-ups to play some
GE?
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area.

-Oklahoma.
Our group doesn't play anymore. I pissed off some of the gaming group (deservedly so, i did not handle my extreme dislike for the system we were using in our tabletop gaming nights in the most appropriate of ways) so we don't really get together much.
Galaktische is still here, still has his cards, but has commitments that would make a meet-up difficult. Good luck in keeping things going in your neck of the woods.

Alas, I have decided that doing so at this juncture is a fool's errand.
Thanks for the reply though. :-)
I'm going to part with my collection; I'll make a post in the trading
forum.

I never turn down a game or an opportunity to teach it someone interested. Always keep at least two playable decks in the gamebag. I have not been able to get my hands on any cards after the Universe edition came out. Would like to get a hold of Technologies and Persona at least.

Most of my playing companions have long since put down their cards. I still have decks made up for my failed attempt at Gencon last year.

I am also in the bay area, actually.
I don't pay a *lot* of attention to these forums, so people
should feel free to ping me at rlpowell@digitalkingdom.org
I have a decent sized collection, but I've mostly broken it
up to make decks to play with friends, i.e. I have no idea
how to build a deck competitively at all.

LOL'ed at Aramax... GE was and always will be about the size of your cardbase penis... The best categories are Luck, followed by Occurrence. If you have a strong base, with cards from all of the major releases (Not counting AT, as it was next to impossible to get it), and a smattering of the promo cards (Tony and Vince's Promos were by far the best) you can build a slammin' Command and Control deck.
The C&C deck is the true card lord "I have a huge penis, and Ima beat you with it" deck. Awesome in 1 v 1, and more then capable of holding it's own at a table of 4-6, the C & C deck rules all.
Which begs the question, if this was such an awesome deck, why did the company fold? Other then the obvious answer of poor management, the company tanked BECAUSE of the C & C deck. After George Stewart and Harry Dangro mastered it's construction, they went on to win every tourney they entered. Unless the table focused solely on ganging up and killing them, they waltzed on everyone.
THAT was the problem with GE. Once Shultze's dirty little secret was discovered, it was too easy to manipulate any tourney to your win.
No other deck format (All hazards, all monsters, crew attacks, etc) mattered next to C & C. And it was that which killed GE to many new players.
I am guilty as charged with regards to this. For the longest time, I ran a pure Vektrean C & C deck, and one day I was teaching a new player, when on turn three I ended up with the holy grail of cards in hand: Accelerated Timeline, Discard Equivalency, and Alliance Treaty.
The Vektrean Armada then arrived, and beat the newbie senseless. Suffice to say, he never played GE again...
But, if you want to learn the inner workings of the C & C deck, email me @ werewolflht65@yahoo.com, and I'll gladly share how to build this 200 card abomination.
Until then, peace through superior deck construction...
And as always, LOL @ Aramax... Re tool your restricted list... Geo and I tried one. It works for Magic, but not for GE.

It depends on your goals. My goal when playing GE is to have fun with my friends, not to win.

One goes hand in hand with the other. You may be there to have fun, but that's not to say your friends aren't there to win.

I heard it was some issue with different people hosting the board at different times. which eventually created a Bifurcation when BOTH servers got left turned on.

It's been awhile since I visited these forums.
Just got tired of trying to breath life into a dead game, I guess.
Not enough players actually playing.
But, I got tired of re-reading Wolfy's comment everytime someone posted to this thread, and not commenting on it.
"After George Stewart and Harry Dangro mastered it's construction, they went on to win every tourney they entered. Unless the table focused solely on ganging up and killing them, they waltzed on everyone."
I call bullsh*t.
While George and Harry did build competitive decks they hardly won every tournament they entered. I was there.
While I might not remember it clearly, I know Harry only won possibly one, and George two maybe three tournaments. Even combined they didn't win as many tournaments as Harold.
And, in a 2-player game, I will destroy any C&C deck.

I'm in northern Delaware. One of the things I'd like to do is check out the customizable software for playing 'any' CCG online. It probably removes the "collector" from CCG. In a way, CCGs create 'have' and 'have not' groups that really can't competitively play together normally; thus limiting the number of people available for play.

For all those people whining about not being able to find promos or other AT
or GI or AF cards....I have over 150,000 cards in my collection and have been
selling promos, entities, AF and Indirigan complete battle fleets etc for
several years. If you are looking for a card...I most likely have it. I also
purchased the remainder of Tony's cards (directly from him) so I have plenty
of MEDICI promo terrain for sale. Just email me at volakis@earthlink.net with
your want list and I will get back to you with pricing and availability. Just
don't ask me to sell my C10 War Prophets. I have five of them...and they are
not for sale. But pretty much everything else is.
